Finland vs. Sweden

Have you heard of the quarrel between The Netherlands and Belgium? Or about the one between Australia and New Zealand? Those are quarrels that usually happen between two nations that share a border or are otherwise situated geographically close together. And usually the quarreling partners are also nations that are somewhat alike in customs, culture and heritage. A quarrel (or a bicker if you will) in this case is more like a quarrel between brothers or sisters, I’d say. Nasty Read More

Traveling alone (a.k.a solo travel)

On all of my longer, bigger trips I’ve traveled by myself. After all I am a Finn and we are born to love our forests and lakes. What it means though is

Two of my very good friends went traveling last fall. One to Australia and New Zealand for two and a half months, the other one to spend seven months in NZ before continuing her way around the world. I guess I could say that I was jealous. I was and I am in a way.
